In those days, it takes more than just protection against viruses. Only about 15% of all malware are viruses. The rest is worms, trojans, phishing, spyware, etc.

Here are some ideas that are at Internet Security Suite (Security Center) free. Is free, is always the best.

-------------------------------------- ...

1. For your Anti-Virus ......( Always use AV 1 ... never more than one anti-virus, even otherwise ran the virus can cause a major conflict ... (did I mention you need all uninstall the old anti-virus?)

For your anti-virus needs, I suggest Avira AntiVir ® Personal Edition Classic. It has excellent heuristics, a detection rate of viruses, which is better than many of the "paid" the anti-virus programs and is required to use the resources of your computer. And did I mention it's free!

Download:

Avoid anti-virus called AVG (free version). It is very popular, but the detection rate of viruses of the poor.

----------------------------------

2. For your Anti-Adware and Anti-Spyware needs ...............( use at least 1 anti-spyware is only 2 OK). Doing check in with him periodically.

SUPERAntiSpyware:

-------------------------------------- ...

3. For your Firewall ..........( Always use only 1 software firewall)

A decent free firewall PC Tools Firewall Plus. You may want to choose "Normal User Mode" or "Expert User Mode", "as advanced warning and applying custom rules.

It is one of the few free firewall that works (and works well) on Vista and XP and 2000.

-------------------------------------

4. And to protect your computer from ever infected with malware, ............ I (use)

SpywareBlaster helps to immunize your computer again certain selected malware.:

SiteAdvisor warns you when VisiTing trendsetting Network malicious Web:

-----------------------------------

5. And always the windows and all installed software 100% updated and patched with all critical updates and security patches vendors THIS IS A MUST! In Internet Explorer just click Tools then Windows Updates.

Here is a little online (no download) security tool called The Secunia Software Inspector, a team of UN safe, non-UN control patch and update applications that are installed on your computer.

The Secunia Software Inspector checks for potentially vulnerable programs like Adobe, Winamp, Java, Windows, Internet Explorer etc. and notifies if critical security updates needed. !

It works with Internet Explorer, Opera or Firefox.

Use once a month.

Very cool and free at:

False Alarm for sale, pop-up boxes, background changes or "balloon" pop-ups from the tray (near the clock) about a Trojan horse, a virus or spyware infections and some utilities attempt to repair "the problem usually indicates that your computer has a Smitfraud infection. DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR try to buy the product that you sell! IS SCAM. It is really extortion-ware First they infect your computer, then they want to remove $ $ $ too.

It appears that your computer may have a variant of this ubiquitous Smitfraud infection.

Almost all "general purpose", "all in one" spyware and virus removal programs such as AVG Anti-Virus, Norton, McAfee or Spybot S & D can not be deleted, as you have determined.

Free specialty tool to remove Smitfraud is available here (SmitfraudFix)
